Time for a Change
My new song “Time for a Change” is out now.
I’ve diagnosed myself with what I call a “double-edged character merit.” I’m too stubborn to give up. If I truly believe in something, I’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen. That’s supposed to be a good trait, right? Perseverance, following through, the “no pain, no gain” Rocky Balboa attitude… Those are supposed to be good traits for you to have in your personality, right? Well what I found out as my hair started to become grayer is that, for me, this is not always the case.
Of course, it’s good to set a goal and work your ass off to achieve it in your personal and professional lives. But what I found is that having this stubbornness can sometimes make you waste your time on undeserving things or people. Because I don’t like giving up, I feel that I spend way more time than necessary resuscitating a dead relationship or a dead project. I waste a lot of time, sleep, effort, money, and happiness trying to fix something that can’t be fixed. I consider it giving up and I NEED to unlearn that.
I’m not saying that we should give up anytime a small obstacle occurs. On the contrary, I like challenges and I adore the feeling I get when I conquer one. It’s just that sometimes, we need to know when things are over, and more importantly to be open to the change.
So don’t dwell on the past, don’t dwell on lost opportunities, don’t dwell on negative people, don’t dwell on unhealthy relationships, don’t stay in place or at a job that you hate. Just move on. Because time will not wait. Just look how much has changed in the last five years. Time for a Change.
