Greyfade
Greyfade is a one-man alternative metal band based in Dubai, UAE, that crosses the genre with musical eclecticism through experimental sounds. Born in Lebanon, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fadi Helou began playing music at the age of 15 and songwriting by the age of 17.
I was recently watching an interview with Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains, and he said something along the lines of, “I don’t always write songs, but I’m always compiling ideas.”
Scenario 1: The summer is upon us. The water is still a bit chilly, but the sun is strikingly hot. That’s the perfect combo in my opinion to spend some time at the beach. It’s simple—you dip yourself into the water and swim for a bit, then you go out and tan in the sun.
Welcome back, Mr. Hyde!!! (insert creepy evil laugh)
I ended my last blog about my lo-fi/chillout side project Faded Grey with this statement: “Mr. Hyde is on a short vacation; let’s welcome Dr. Jekyll for the time being.”
What’s this? Where are the distorted guitars? Where are the crushing, heavy riffs?? Where are the growls, screams, pummeling drums, and wailing guitar solos??? OMG 😱 Am I going deaf??
Relax (literally) :) This is my new “side project,” if you will, and it’s aptly called Faded Grey (see what I did there?)
“Le temps détruit tout.”
I first encountered this ominous line at the ending (or the beginning, since the movie starts at the ending and plays backwards) of the Gaspar Noé film, “Irreversible,” starring Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel.
Phew—an item off the bucket list!
Finally, I managed to record “Acid Reign,” one of the first songs I’d ever written (and the first I was probably really proud of).
Is there a black cloud always hovering over you? Do you constantly get the short end of the stick? Do you feel some people are just naturally lucky, and you were simply born on the wrong side?
“Life is an unanswered question, but let's still believe in the dignity and importance of the question.”
—Tennessee Williams
Indeed, life is an unanswered question. We walk through the path of life seeking answers to many questions—mundane ones, important ones, life-altering ones, philosophical ones and unanswerable ones. This song is about the last bit, and it’s open-ended.
“Soaring telephone fees cut off Lebanon’s poor from their phones”.
“Threat of internet outages continue in Lebanon amid Ogero (the Lebanese telecommunication official body) Strike”
“Lebanese currency crashes below 35,000 (Lebanese pound) against dollar”
Keep the above in mind for a bit.
Hello there,
I’ve got to admit, I love albums! While I enjoy working on and releasing singles, to me, in music, nothing beats a collective and cohesive body of work compiled in one package and under one banner or title.
