Greyfade Releases New Single “6:07”: A Tribute to the Explosion that Shook Lebanon

(Trigger warning for those affected by the Beirut Explosion or other similar calamities)

6:07 PM. That was the ungodly hour that changed Lebanon forever.

On August 4th, 2020, at 6:07 PM, a massive explosion took place in the Port of Beirut, in the Lebanese capital, that claimed the lives of more than 200 people, injured more than 5,000 people, destroyed more than 50,000 homes, left Beirut in rubles and the Lebanese people broken and scarred forever.

As is the case with most of the atrocities that took place in Lebanon, the complete truth of why this massacre (yes, it's a massacre) will not be revealed and it will be buried in a tomb so hollow, wretched and rotten as the souls of the perpetrators of this crime. Who are the perpetrators? ALL the politicians and the political parties that are running and ruining this country. All of them. None are exempt. They will forever carry the blood of the dead and tears of the living. Even though I highly doubt that they feel any compassion, remorse or guilt for what happened, the blood of the dead remains on their hands. There are many theories floating around as to why this explosion took place; from unattended explosive material left in the port of Beirut, to a bomb dropped by firefighting planes, to welding works, to fireworks (yes, fireworks!). The point is because of the lies, negligence, and complete disregard to human life of those criminals that this carnage took place.

“6:07” is a song I wish I didn't have to write. It's a song that I wish was never born. Everytime I listen to it, sorrow consumes me and I choke up. However, to me, it is a constant reminder that we must never forgive and never forget. We must honour the souls that passed away and reclaim our country and lives.

Listen to “6:07” here.
