Greyfade gets even heavier with new song “In The Name of Honor"
This is probably the heaviest track I recorded to date, and deservingly so. The topic is one of the ugliest, most brutal paradigms we are faced with today, the betrayal of trust by many of the “leaders” that sit in power in the world today. Listen to the song here.
Heavy guitars, growling vocals, pummeling drums, and an overall sinister sound merely reflect the callous reality those politicians inflict on their people.
In October 2019, the citizens of my home country, Lebanon, finally woke up and stormed the streets against the corrupt ruling regime that has been sucking their livelihood for more than 30 years and placing the country in severe debt.
Those filthy incumbents sold empty promises, divided the wealth of this beautiful country amongst themselves, put the country in a civil war, and managed to create an authoritarian state whereby, if you want to succeed, you have to swear allegiance to them; whereas the rest are doomed.
The direct and indirect repercussions of their corruption will have an impact for many years to come. More than a 100 billion dollars are stolen, no healthcare system in place, a non-existent infrastructure (electricity shortages still take place on a daily basis in 2020), tons of poverty, high unemployment rate, a heavily devalued currency are all but a few of the atrocities that they inflicted on the people.
Why? The answer is simple: To deepen their pockets.
A couple of months ago I released a hopeful—well as hopeful as Greyfade gets—ballad called “Tears of the Mighty”. The song was aimed to spread awareness that the people and the army are one. They are our brothers and sisters ordered by the ruling elite to stand and fight against their own people in the demonstrations that took place on the streets.
The cover artwork for the song shows a shining Lebanese flag on an ancient historical ruin (the ruins of Baalbek in Lebanon) rising amidst the black and grey. We used the same picture for the cover of “In The Name of Honor” however, this time, the flag is broken.
In Lebanon, as in many places in the world, the elected leaders swear an oath to serve and protect the constitution, the people and the country, hence the title “ In The Name of Honor”. Needless to say, they betrayed that oath.
