'The Illusion' - How it became

Ever wondered what leads to a record? I'll share a few steps of the long road I've endured along the years:

'The Illusion' - How it became

The song that started the next chapter of Greyfade. It's the first song I recorded for my first full length album, 'Life' which was released in 2016 and it's the first song I worked on with other people since 1999!!

Writing music has always been and will always be something very personal and sacred to me. However, after recording, producing, mixing, engineering, mastering and releasing 10 singles on my own, between 2012 and 2015, I felt that I needed to "up" the sound quality of my recordings. To achieve this and in order for the songs to reach their true potential, reaching out to external parties was essential. A friend introduced me to Hadi (producer and owner of Haven studios) and till date we have recorded 2 full length albums, 1 EP, 8 singles and 1 rearrangement of a song together.

Funny story: When I first met Hadi and booked the first recording session, I came to the studio without my gear, so Hadi was somewhat confused and I was like 'This is the first session and we need to talk' and I was like 'look my songs are 100% written. All I need from you is to push the record button'.

As I mentioned earlier, my songs are very personal to me, and I used to get very defensive when people offer ideas or changes to them. Maybe, to some degree, I still do. But Hadi is an incredible musician and he found a way to break through my very thick skull. His production and contributions to Greyfade are paramount.

Naturally, as an artist, I have to always evolve and 'The Illusion' was a stepping stone for exploring new ideas and realizing that 'you know what? my songs can sound professional and good'.

For that, it will always have a special place in my heart.
